Kudani (Swedish Gutanäs , German Kudanes ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Lääne-Nigula (until 2017: rural municipality Noarootsi ) in Lääne County in Estonia .

The place has eleven inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located twelve kilometers north of the county capital Haapsalu .

The village is said to have been an island called Krok-skäre with a fishing port. In 1540 the place was mentioned in a document as Guthnis . In 1575 it was destroyed by Russians and Tatars; At the end of the 1580s it was settled again.

The place name is now officially bilingual Estonian and Swedish again, as the village used to be part of the traditional settlement area of ​​the Estonian Swedes .

Lake Kudani ( Kudani järv ) extends north of the village center . Since 1964 it has been part of the extensive nature reserve Silma ( Silma looduskaitseala ) with its numerous bird species.
