At the beginning of the 16th century the place was a prebend of the canons of Haapsalu. In the 17th century the representative courtyard was built in the Baroque style . It was awarded in 1624. From 1624 to 1835 the property was owned by the noble Baltic German family Baranoff .

Today's mansion in the style of early classicism with baroque elements was built between 1775 and 1778 by Karl Gustav von Baranoff (1713–1796). It was the wedding present for his son Christoph Heinrich (1747-1818) and his wife Helene Juliane Charlotte von Engelhardt (1754-1820).

With the Soviet occupation of Estonia, the offices of the local sovkhoz were housed in the buildings . Since 1995 the farm has been privately owned again. It belongs to the Estonian historian and politician Mart Helme (* 1949).

Concerts and celebrations take place on the property today. The mansion also serves as a private museum that provides information about the history of the place. The building is surrounded by a large park.
