Variku is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality Lääne-Nigula (until 2017: rural municipality Nõva ) in Lääne County , Estonia .

Population and location

The place has 52 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011).

The Nõva River ( Nõva jõgi ) has its source on the eastern edge of the nearby Leidissoo Bog . The small river Vihterpalu ( Vihterpalu jõgi ) flows through Variku .

Boulders

The foundling Kiirema mannikivi

There are numerous erratic boulders in the area of ​​the village . The largest of them is the Kiirema mannikivi with a diameter of 19.5 m . It consists of the granite Rapakiwi .

Since 1939, three boulders, known as Männiku talu rändrahnud , have also been under state protection . Their circumference is 19.4 meters, 15 meters and 14.9 meters, respectively.
