Lamutskoje ( Russian Ламутско́е ) is a village (selo) in the Chukchi Autonomous Okrug ( Russia ) with 173 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is not far from the right bank of the river Anadyr , immediately above the confluence of the right tributary Great Peledon (Bolshoi Peledon).
Lamutskoje belongs to the Anadyrski district and is located a good 400 km as the crow flies west-northwest of the district and district administrative center of Anadyr . It is the seat and the only locality of the rural municipality of the same name (selskoje posselenije).
history
The village was founded in 1940 as part of the settlement of the semi-nomadic, predominantly reindeer herding indigenous people. The place name was from the previously common Russian name Lamutes for the predominantly resident Evens derived.
traffic
Lamutskoje has a small airport ( ICAO code UHAL ) with regular connections to Anadyr. There is also a winter track leading to Anadyr and partly on the ice of the Anadyr River.
