Konergino ( Russian Коне́ргино ; Chukchi Кэӈиергын , Kengijergyn ) is a village (selo) in the Chukchi Autonomous Okrug ( Russia ) with 424 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is good 200 km in a straight line to the northeast of the county government center Anadyr in the southern part of the Chukchi Peninsula , at the beginning of a headland on the eastern shore of Cross Bay , a part of the Anadyrgolfs the Bering Sea . In the flat, swampy hinterland, which extends over 40–50 kilometers to the foot of the mountains, there are a multitude of lakes.
Konergino belongs to the Egwekinot district ; it is about 50 km in a south-southeast direction from its eponymous administrative seat, the settlement of Egwekinot .
history
The village was established in its present form since 1939, when the local village Soviet , the management of the collective farm and a trading post from the located on the north coast of the Chukchi Peninsula Nutepelmen to there were relocated. Before that there was only a small settlement of the traditional Chukchi tents called “Jaranga” made of a fur-covered wooden structure and earthen huts. The place name stands in Chukchi for "bent field" ( кэӈи- / каӈэ , kengi / kange "bent"; ергын , jergyn "field, level"). In 1953 a hospital and a boarding school were opened.

Konergino is not connected to the road network. From Egwekinot there is a connection by helicopter and during the ice-free time by boat, in winter via a runway that partly leads over the frozen Kreuz Bay.
