history

The village was established in its present form since 1939, when the local village Soviet , the management of the collective farm and a trading post from the located on the north coast of the Chukchi Peninsula Nutepelmen to there were relocated. Before that there was only a small settlement of the traditional Chukchi tents called “Jaranga” made of a fur-covered wooden structure and earthen huts. The place name stands in Chukchi for "bent field" ( кэӈи- / каӈэ , kengi / kange "bent"; ергын , jergyn "field, level"). In 1953 a hospital and a boarding school were opened.

traffic

Konergino is not connected to the road network. From Egwekinot there is a connection by helicopter and during the ice-free time by boat, in winter via a runway that partly leads over the frozen Kreuz Bay.
