Landázuri is a municipality (municipio) in the department of Santander in Colombia .

geography

The municipality of Landázuri is located in the province of Carare in the south of Santanderin in the Colombian Andes at an altitude of 955 meters and has an average annual temperature of around 18 ° C. The municipality borders Puerto Parra in the north, Vélez in the east, Bolívar in the south and Cimitarra in the west .

history

Already in the colonial times there was a village with the name Sabana Alta in the area of ​​today's place. The name changed several times, first to Paraje de Belisario, then to Colonia de Navajas and finally it was given its current name around 1870, named after José María Landázuri . Since 1891 the place was a corregimiento of the municipality of Bolívar before it was given the status of its own municipality in 1974.

economy

The most important industry in Landázuri is agriculture . The most important product is cocoa , but cattle production and the cultivation of coffee , avocados , mangoes , corn , mandarins , cassava and bananas also play a role. There is also timber industry .
