1912–1913 (tenement house) Plastered façade with bay windows and loggias, formerly with shops, reform style architecture that characterizes the plaza, is of importance in terms of building history and character of the townscape also intended to take over the construction management. The specialty of the representative corner building was the accommodation of a "cinemategraph theater", which was housed next to a shop on the ground floor with 296 planned seats and a gallery or tier with 79 chairs. After a few changes to the plan, the construction permit was issued on May 23. A few days later, tectures were submitted concerning the refreshment rooms on the gallery and on the ground floor. The reinforced concrete construction business Sonntag & Schneider (Ranstädter Steinweg 46) provided static calculations. Votes that according to the foundation plan “pillar foundations protruding into the roadside” are rare. On March 30, 1913, the final examination was requested and carried out in May. On October 1 of the year the property was sold to the hotel owner and innkeeper Franz Hermann Krause (owner of the Hotel Wartburg) and cattle commissioner Curt Osmar Arnold. 1918 Transfer of the property to Albine Laura Anna ehl after a foreclosure auction. Walcher used w. Müller born Fischer and less than half a year later it is owned by the merchants Karl Friedrich Wilde and Gustav Adolf Droste in Eilenburg. April 1st, 1920 names the Lindenthal engineer Johan Rudolf Hovander as the owner. Marie Kümmel from Gohlis was probably the first owner of the cinema, and a plan was dated for March 1913 that provided for the construction of a small motor house in the courtyard, as electricity for the cinema had to be generated by the company itself because it was not connected to a central power grid. A 10 PC gas engine was planned for the manufacturer Johannes Nitzsche, factory of cinematographic apparatus. The house bears the name "Kinematographentheater Olympia". In May 1915, Bernhard Rahn is on record as the cinema leaseholder, in autumn the cinema is empty. A new motor from the Becker & Heine mechanical engineering institute is scheduled for installation in October 1915. Reopening for sure under the next tenant Friedrich Müller, the house soon bears the name Olympia-Palast-Theater and undergoes a renovation in 1928, which focuses on the enlargement of the projector room and is the responsibility of Rudolf Hovander. Master builder Rudolf Müller acts as planner, contractor and site manager. 1956 to 1958 conversion of the gallery and renovation of the theater as well as demolition of the shed building in the courtyard by the VEB (K) Kreis-Lichtspielbetrieb Leipzig-Stadt, the stage was also put on wide screen. Incidentally, the Café Girod is located in the house, the rooms of which were to be converted into a cash desk and the entrance to the house had to be relocated. The executing company was Fritz Aey's construction business. In September 1965, the General German Deaf Association submitted an application to convert the movie theater into a deaf cultural center. The reinforced concrete construction company of Dipl.-Ing. Heinrich-Lips. Almost a year later, the usage certificate was sent, and the house is still present in the cityscape today thanks to the effective advertising “Klubheim Samuel Heinicke”. The impressive plastered building in an exposed corner to Georg-Schumann-Straße has a generous facade structure, decorative elements of the reform style and formerly surprised with an inviting ground floor design. Pilasters frame the upper floors, some with balconies between them and culminate in a mighty roof house. The elegant furnishings typical of the time have been preserved in the apartment building. As a former cinema of particular scientific and documentary importance, indispensable for urban planning, a rarity. LfD / 2013 09263882

1903 (water tower), marked 1903 (machine house) next to a barracks area (Provision Office), clinker brick building, formerly with 375 m³ capacity, next to it Möckern I water tower from 1896 (see object 09263983), of technical significance Monument text With the construction of the Möckern II water tower in 1903, the waterworks in doubled its performance. The enlargement was necessary in order to cope with the water requirements of the steadily growing city and above all to be able to protect the nearby provisions office and the barracks of the 107th regiment in the event of a fire. In its external shape, the water tower at the time of construction corresponded to its predecessor Möckern I, located to the south (see object number 09263983). It is only slightly larger in order to accommodate the chimney necessary for the operation of the steam pumps inside next to the loft container (capacity 375 m³). The associated boiler house was built in the middle between the two water towers. The water tower, made of yellow clinker brickwork, has a surrounding decorative field with contrasting green glazed bricks in the lower part of the tower shaft. They used to communicate with the tambour floor clad with green beaver tails and the equally covered conical roof of the tower. Due to the fact that the tower has been in need of renovation since the 1970s and the lack of repairs, the roof and the tank level of the water tower were dismantled after its shutdown (1980) in 1995 for safety reasons. The Möckern II water tower, in conjunction with its sister tower Möckern I and the centrally located boiler house, forms an impressive technical water system on Olbrichtstrasse in the north of Leipzig. It is of great urban and technological historical value. LfD / 2017 09297763

1896 (water tower) next to a barracks area (provision office), yellow clinker brick building with sandstone structure, formerly 350 m³ capacity, next to it Möckern II water tower from 1903 (see object 09297763), of technical significance Monument text With the sudden increase in population in the course of industrialization in Leipzig and the associated development of new urban areas the expansion of the water supply network became necessary. In order to guarantee the necessary water pressure in the districts north of the city center, the water had to be raised with the help of a water tower. The so-called "High Zone North", a supply area with high water pressure, was created with the construction of the first Leipzig water tower Möckern I in 1896. The city council commissioned the renowned hydraulic engineer Adolf Thiem, who had previously been responsible for the long-distance water network of the Naunhof waterworks City of Leipzig had designed with the project planning. The round brick building has a diameter of 16 meters at the base of the tower, which tapers up by 3 meters. Overall, the tower is around 44 meters high. Its outer shape is characterized by yellow and leather-colored bricks, only the base cornice and the window frames are made of sandstone. The iron water tank, open at the top, with a spherical loft has a capacity of 350 m³. It is located at a height of 23 meters and is clad with an iron half-timbered storey, which is slightly exposed over corbels, which was insulated with peat debris and boarded on both sides. The container floor is illuminated through large double windows with a fixed central bar and was clad with artificial slate in the course of the renovation of the tower in 1997. Since then, the roof, which was originally covered with green glazed beaver tails, has also been covered with artificial slate. The water tower, which was decommissioned in 1980, is a special testimony to the development of Leipzig's water supply at the end of the 19th century. It is therefore of great urban and technical historical value. LfD / 2017 09263983

1912–1915 (tenement house) Formerly with a shop, plastered facade, striking corner building, of architectural and development historical value Monument text On the property previously under Wedelstrasse 1, a corner residential building with an enclosure was built between 1912 and 1916. In 1912, the architect Willy Kramer provided the first draft for the Leipziger Terrain-Gesellschaft, represented by Mr. Hoffmann. At the beginning of the summer of the following year, master carpenter Hermann Schaller took over the property and the building permit. Master builder and architect Karl Brumme submitted tectures on the project in June 1914 - work began a good two months later and was reported to have been completed in March 1915. A short time later, master glazier Otto Richard Pfauder (Pegau) and kiln shop owner Richard Johannes Kügler acquired the area from bankrupt property and commissioned Albin Neumann with the production of further required architectural drawings and in 1916 with the production of the enclosure. The architect Curt Rost was responsible for the emergency apartment that was set up under the roof in 1919, and the owner was now the locomotive driver Fritz Martz from Wahren. The application for the conversion of the shop into living space dates from October 1978, in 2010 there were reports about loose plastering. During the construction period, three apartments per floor were planned, with two apartments each having a toilet and bathroom and only the tenants of the middle apartment still using the toilets in the stairwell. An apartment on the first floor was assigned to the shop, and there was no planned car shed in the courtyard. The building looks like a sibling house with the adjoining corner house at Huygensstraße 2, in particular due to the same horizontal structure, a box bay window that extends over three floors and a four-axis gable facing the decorative square in front of it. The simply structured plastered facade is typical of the time, the almost complete waiver of stucco or artificial stone decor may not least be due to the difficult construction process. The lack of the corner store and the newer front door are very regrettable, the preservation of the interior fittings and some original windows are gratifying. The building, which was built at the beginning of World War I in an exposed corner situation, is of interest in terms of architectural history and urban development. LfD / 2016 09295015

1913–1914 (number 33, apartment building), 1913 (number 31, apartment building) Number 33 with gate passage, plastered facade, reform style architecture, historically significant monument text The applications for the building project for a twin house designed by architect Karl Voigt and supervised by the building management were made on April 3 and August 11 (number 33) of the year 1913. The entrepreneur was Mason foreman Josef Rzehulka from Kleinzschocher. The laundry rooms were each in the basement, and three apartments on each floor with privét in the stairwell. House number 31 was completed in the same year, the neighboring house in March 1914. The new owner of house 31, which was foreclosed in 1917, was the master carpenter Friedrich Hermann Glauche, who applied for an attic apartment in 1921 and built it himself. A second attic apartment was built in 1923 under the new owner, the interior designer Friedrich Winkler from Schleußig. In the same year the property was taken over by the businessman Mendel Rotter and in 1938 by the lawyer Dr. Winfried Less. 1995 LWB sold the property to Dr. Kruger real estate. House 33 came into the hands of factory director Johannes Karl Leonhardt in Holzhausen after a foreclosure auction in 1918, followed by private man Johann Klünspies and his wife (1921), Karl Walter Otto Rudolph (1936) and later the city of Leipzig and LWB. In 1938 a single-storey wooden garden house was built. Plaster facades designed without decorative panels with slightly protruding three-axis central projections with a dwelling, in front of them are garden areas behind an enclosure made of molded artificial stone and wooden slat fields. Both staircases have retained their original furnishings, and the courtyard is accessed via a gate at number 33. Opposite the former military area of the infantry barracks, a twin building with architectural and historical value. LfD / 2012 09293233

1914 (tenement) Plastered facade, inside with special stairwell painting, reform style architecture, historically significant monument text In 1914, building contractor Gustav Robert Franke applied for the construction of a front residential building with a wash house as well as the creation of the front garden fence and lock system. Architect Alban Poser took over the design and construction management, static calculations and the execution of the Eutritzsch master mason Karl Franke. The project was implemented within just half a year. The property owner M. Koch added an attic apartment in 1927. A two-axis central projecting with a dwelling and a few prefabricated decorative panels gives the street-side facade, which is quite wide with ten axes, its rhythm. Continuous cornices above and below the windows structure the front of the shop horizontally, the entrance to the house is arranged out of the middle. As part of a renewed renovation in 2017, the current appearance of the building again corresponds to the strict but noble planning draft in the style of reform architecture, incorrect plastering and the inexpensive plastic windows of the 1990s were removed. The new plastering has the necessary mica content, the windows a multiple sprouting of the skylights. Inside, equipment from the period of construction has been preserved, the upper floors each have three rental units. The house, built in the first year of the war, has an architectural value.
