List of countries by proportion of obese people
The following list sorts countries according to the proportion of their adult population with obesity . Obesity is present from a body mass index of 30. All data come from the World Health Organization . The percentage and the total number of overweight people has risen sharply worldwide in the last few decades. In 2014, 1.9 billion people worldwide were overweight (BMI over 25) and around 600 million people were severely overweight (BMI over 30).
methodology
The body mass index is calculated as follows:
where the body mass (in kilograms) and the body height (in meters). A BMI value over 25 is considered overweight, a value over 30 is considered obesity or severely overweight. It is criticized that this calculation method does not include muscle mass and the percentage of body fat.

The source is the WHO (as of 2014), the countries are sorted according to the proportion of the adult population with a BMI over 30.
