1 old hat oak "court oak" | Oberförsterei Gahrenberg 51 ° 27 ′ 9.9 ″ N , 9 ° 32 ′ 28.5 ″ E |
Pedunculate oak approx. 3.0 km north of the outskirts of Holzhausen . The extraordinary, very old hat oak stands in a small clearing in the southern area of the Reinhardswald , approx. 100 m west of the L 3232. It no longer shows the typical figure of a tree, but forms a sculpture that is difficult to see in winter which components have already become dead wood and which are still alive. In summer a main branch of the oak is clearly green and lively. Around 2019/2020, the entire spruce monoculture around the oak location was felled. The tree has been free since then and can currently also be seen from the L 3232. The “court oak” is one of the trees for which the age has not only been estimated, but also scientifically determined (see list of natural monuments in the Kassel district # Age-determined trees ). With an age of around 550 years established in 2005, the oak is probably the oldest living tree in the Kassel district. Trunk circumference: 7.85 m Height: 15 m Year of planting: approx. 1455 (according to age) OSM link to the map display: "Court oak " in the southern Reinhardswald |
