The pilgrimage church of St. Blasius (one of the fourteen helpers in need ) was first mentioned in a document in 1286 in a letter of indulgence , the older church was expanded or rebuilt in 1733. The baroque hall building has a simple exterior appearance with a polygonal choir closure, a sacristy extension and a roof turret. The west facade is structured by a basket arched stone portal with a canopy on fluted columns. The barrel vaulted interior shows splendid stucco work from the time it was built.

For centuries, believers have made pilgrimages to the Blasienberg and ask for the intercession of the helper in need and patron saint for all ailments in the mouth and throat (custom of the Blasian blessing ). The so-called “Black Cross” from 1522 is also venerated.

Inside is a painted wooden box with a high-quality group of crosses from the second third of the 17th century. It recalls the year 1637 when Völs was almost completely depopulated by the plague. You Christians, all of you who are still alive
, be careful what this place means.
Your fathers rest here, from all this community
who were torn by the cruel plague.
Here we pray for them, so that they may pray for us,
the good God will save us from such punishment,

whoever wants to penance, nor give his grace. This
crucifix is also from the old, the one from the
