List of German consular missions abroad

This is a list of all acting consuls general and consuls of the Federal Republic of Germany .

Consulates general and consulates are diplomatic missions of a sovereign state and embassies are usually subordinate to them. They are solely responsible for their consular district and can perform consular tasks in this area, primarily the interests of the citizens of the sending state in the receiving state. The consular missions abroad do not perform diplomatic tasks.

The Federal Republic of Germany currently has 54 consulates general and 7 consulates. Furthermore, 337 honorary consuls general and honorary consuls work for the Federal Republic of Germany. Honorary consuls are honorary officials, usually have the nationality of the host country and are authorized to perform consular official acts. Consuls general and consuls are German officials who preside over a consulate general or a consulate.
