This is a list of stations on French high- speed lines that are exclusively or predominantly served by the TGV high-speed trains. It is characteristic of these that they are usually several kilometers outside the city centers, directly on the high-speed routes. The stop of TGV trains at such stations is associated with much less loss of time than if the trains first had to unwind on the old building routes and drive to the stations in the city center. In individual cases, the train stations were also built halfway between two cities.
The term “gare des betteraves” (French betterave ; German turnip) has become established for those stations in “no man's land” that can be reached by road but not by regional railroad . It goes back to the Haute-Picardie train station between Amiens and Saint-Quentin , which is far from any major settlement and is surrounded by fields with beetroot .
