Logic (rapper)
Logic (real name Sir Robert Bryson Hall II ; born January 22, 1990 in Gaithersburg , Maryland ) is an American rapper . He has a large following on the internet and is a member of the RattPack , a group of friends he works with. Logic has released six official mixtapes and six albums so far.
Life
Logic is the son of an African American from Maryland and a white American. Logic grew up in the problematic West Deer Park district of Gaithersburg. His childhood and youth were mainly shaped by problems and suffering. This is due to the difficult family circumstances with which he had to struggle a lot. The cocaine and crack addict father left the family early and broke off all contact.
His alcoholic mother was completely overwhelmed with the upbringing, as she suffered greatly from her addiction. His older brother was a gang member and a drug dealer. Logic attended Gaithersburg High School but never graduated from high school. From the 10th grade onwards, Logic regularly skipped school and was excluded from further attendance at high school due to lack of performance. He used his free time to devote himself to music, as it was the best way to express his feelings.
His texts are partly political and deal with drug use, racism and discrimination against minorities as well as other socially and socially critical topics.
Logic was married to singer Jessica Andrea from 2015 to 2018 and lived with her in Beverly Hills , California .
Career
Beginnings
Logic was 13 years old when he first met his mentor, Solomon Taylor . At the age of 16 Taylor brought him some CDs on which he could record songs he had written. First he appeared under the pseudonym Psychological and published the mixtape Psychological: The Mixtape . He later changed his stage name to Logic. Logic appeared as the opening act for Pitbull, Ludacris and EPMD, among others.
From 2010
In December 2010 Logic released its first official mixtape Young, Broke and Infamous . He also published two music videos. The mixtape caught the attention of Chris Zarou, owner of the independent record label Visionary Music Group. Zarou offered Logic to include him on his label. On September 19, 2011, he released his second mixtape Young Sinatra . The mixtape met with a great response on the Internet. His music video for All I Do was Logic's first song to generate more than a million views on YouTube. In March 2012, Billboard magazine named Logic the Next Big Sound , an award for artists who have achieved particularly rapid popularity on the Internet. In April 2012, he published Young Sinatra: Undeniable . In the mix tape, Logic mainly deals with personal issues such as his future, his relationship with his father and the problems at school. His fourth mixtape Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever was released on May 7, 2013.
In October 2014 Logic released his debut album Under Pressure . This album went gold in America. At the end of 2015 his second album followed, which is called The Incredible True Story . This album also achieved gold status in America. The mixtape Bobby Tarantino was released in summer 2016 . In 2016 he became known as a guest rapper in Sucker For Pain . In 2017 Logic founded his own label Elysium Records. In June 2019 the label was renamed BobbyBoy Records .
On May 5, 2017, he released his third album Everybody, which had already been announced on March 29 . The news for his third album was posted to Logic's Twitter , Instagram and YouTube accounts in the form of videos revealing the official album cover, designed and painted by Sam Spratt and directed by Andy Hines . This album also contained one of his most famous songs called 1-800-273-8255 . His 6th mixtape Bobby Tarantino II was released on March 9, 2018 . Young Sinatra IV , his 4th studio album , was released on September 28, 2018 . In an interview with Genius , Logic said that his fourth album will likely be his last.
Everybody debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard 200 with 247,000 album equivalents, of which 196,000 were album-only sales. However, the album also set the record for the biggest week-two drop ever, as sales fell 96% to just 8,000 copies. His lead single 1-800-273-8255 , created in collaboration with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline , was awarded triple platinum by the RIAA . In August 2017, Logic was guest on the animated comedy series Rick & Morty and headlining a festival himself. In November 2017, Logic released the song "Broken People" as part of the Bright soundtrack.
On February 23, 2018, Logic released a single called "44 More" . It was a sequel to "44 Bars" , a song from Logic's 2016 mixtape Bobby Tarantino . The song reached its 22nd place on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The following single, "Overnight" , was released four days later on February 27th. Logic finally released another single on March 2nd, entitled "Everyday," with record producer Marshmello . Logic later announced its sixth mixtape, titled Bobby Tarantino II, and a promotional video featuring the characters from the series Rick & Morty on March 7th. Bobby Tarantino II was released on March 9, 2018 via Def Jam and Visionary Music Group . The mixtape included guest appearances from 2 Chainz , Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa . On March 30th, he was featured in the first episode of Netflix's original documentary series Rapture .
On September 28, 2018, Logic released its fourth studio album, titled YSIV . Before the project was released, Logic presented three singles: One Day with Ryan Tedder , The Return and Everybody Dies . The album features the song Wu Tang Forever , which features all of the surviving members of the Wu Tang Clan .
Logic has also announced an album titled Ultra 85 that is currently unreleased. He also said that he wrote his own movie that he is starting to work on because he wants to star in it himself.
On March 26, 2019, his first novel entitled Supermarket was published along with the soundtrack of the same name.
On May 3, 2019, Logic released the single Homicide , on which the rapper Eminem has a guest appearance. A week later his fifth studio album Confessions of a Dangerous Mind was released .
In June 2019 the label was renamed BobbyBoy Records .
Logic announced its withdrawal from music on July 16, 2020 on Instagram , and its last album was called "No Pressure" and will be released on July 24, 2020. The post says, "The last decade has been great. Now is the time to be a great father." ( "It's been a great decade. Now it's time to be a great father." )
