Omega Pharma-Lotto was a Belgian cycling team sponsored by Omega Pharma and the Belgian Lottery . For the 2012 season it merged with the Quick Step Cycling Team to form the Omega Pharma Quick-Step Cycling Team . Co-sponsor Lotto founded the Lotto Belisol team .

history

First, the Belgian Lottery founded its cycling team called Lotto in 1985. They later merged with Domo-Farm Frites and called themselves Lotto-Domo.

In 2004, Davitamon was still a sponsor of the Quick Step-Davitamon team . But they separated from Quick Step and then worked with the former Lotto-Domo team. The team was called "Davitamon Lotto" in 2005 and 2006.

At the end of 2006 the pharmaceutical company Omega Pharma decided that the "Davitamon" brand had become better known through advertising in cycling and that the "Predictor" brand, under whose name pregnancy tests are sold, would now like to advertise on the riders' jerseys. In the 2008 and 2009 seasons, the group is promoting the "Silence" brand. As of 2010, the company name itself was advertised and the team was called Omega Pharma-Lotto.

Since the 2009 season, the team has been sponsored by the German bicycle manufacturer Canyon instead of Ridley .

At the end of the 2011 season, the team was merged with the Quick Step Cycling Team , with the operating company of the Omega Pharma - Lotto team, Belgian Cycling Company sa , running the team and the previous Quick Step team manager taking on the same function for the team , however, the joint team not only took over most of the riders and staff of the Quick Step Cycling Team, but also operated under the address of the operator Esperanza bvba.

The background to the separation of the sponsors was the disagreement between the previous name sponsors Omega Pharma and Lotto about the further development of the team. Co-sponsor Lotto founded a team called Lotto Belisol Team , which took over a large part of the sporting management and driver base of Omega Pharma-Lotto , but is managed by another operating company and does not take over the existing ProTeam license, but from the UCI was licensed as a new team.
