Makemo is a municipality in the Tuamotu Archipelago in French Polynesia .

The community consists of 11 atolls. It is subdivided into 4 “ Communes associées ” (sub-municipalities). The main town of the municipality is Makemo. The municipality's INSEE code is 98726.
