Markowo is a place in the northeast of the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . He belongs to the rural municipality Dubeninki (Dubeningken , 1938 to 1945 Dubeningen) in the Gołdap (Goldap) district .
Geographical location
Markowo is located in the south of the Rominter Heide ( Puszcza Romincka in Polish ) in the area of the protected landscape park (Park Krajobrazowy Puszczy Rominckiej). It is 18 kilometers to the district town of Gołdap (Goldap) , and the state border with Kaliningrad Oblast runs three kilometers north of the village.
history
Nothing is known about settlement of the Markowos village before 1945, let alone a German place name. Markowo is a village in the Gmina Dubeninki association in the powiat Gołdapski and has been part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship since 1999 .
Religions
The majority Catholic population of Markovo is incorporated into the Dubeninki parish . It belongs to the Filipów Deanery in the Diocese of Ełk (Lyck) of the Catholic Church in Poland .
The few Protestant church members belong to the parish in Gołdap . It is a subsidiary of the parish in Suwałki in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Poland .
