Melkendorf is a part of the municipality of Eckersdorf in the Bayreuth district in Upper Franconia ( Bavaria ).
geography
The hamlet is located on a stream, a right tributary of the Eschenbach, which flows into the Seitenbach on the right . In the north there is a wooded hill ( 565 m above sea level ), called Steinleite and Eichig. A service road leads to the B 22 (0.4 km southeast), which runs to Busbach (1.8 km east) or to Eschen (1.2 km northeast).
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1409 as "Melkendorf bey Escha" (Escha means the place Eschen ). The defining word of the place name is probably the Slavic personal name Milek, who can be seen as the founder of the place.
As a result of the municipal edict, Melkendorf was assigned to the tax district and the rural municipality of Busbach in 1811 , which was incorporated into the municipality of Eckersdorf on May 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
