Mihály Korhut (born December 1, 1988 in Debrecen ) is a Hungarian national football player . The left- back has been playing for the Hungarian national team since 2014 . From 2008 to 2016 he was under contract with his hometown club Debreceni Vasutas SC , for which he played since he was 17 and with whom he was three times champion and cup winner. Korhut moved to Hapoel Be'er Scheva in August 2016 . He signed a contract until June 30, 2020, but left the club in January 2019 to move to Greece to Aris Saloniki .

Career

society

Korhut has been playing for his hometown club Debreceni Vasutas SC since he was 17 , initially in junior teams and the reserve. During this time the club became Hungarian champions in 2006 , 2007 and 2009 and cup winners in 2008 . Since the 2009/10 season he has been playing in the first team, but only made two appearances in his first first division season and could not contribute much to the renewed championship, but played 26 times for the reserve team in the second division. In the cup, which Debrecen won again, he was only used in the semi-final second leg against Honved Budapest . In the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League , in which Debrecen failed in the third qualifying round at FC Basel , he was not yet used. 2010/11 he was only used on the first match day in the first team and was awarded after 14 appearances in the second team to the first division rivals Kaposvári Rákóczi FC , with whom he was seventh. Debrecen only finished the season in fifth, the worst position since 2002 when they finished eighth. Also in the cup, Debrecen was eliminated in the round of 16 against the eventual winner Kecskeméti TE , who was only twelfth in the league . Korhut, on the other hand, failed with Kaposvári only in the semifinals at Videoton FC , who became champions for the first time in 2011, but lost the cup final. In the 2011/12 season , to which he returned to his old club, he was only missing in one game and the Debrecen could again be champions. In addition, Debrecen won the cup final against MTK on penalties despite being outnumbered. As champions, the club qualified for the second qualifying round for the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League , which was survived against the Albanian champions KF Skënderbeu Korça . In the third round the Belarusian champion BATE Baryssau was stronger. Korhut only attracted attention with three yellow cards in the four games.

In the 2012/13 season Debrecen was only sixth, the new champion was Győri ETO FC for the first time in 30 years . Debrecen was able to defend the trophy against Győri and was thus qualified for the second qualifying round of the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League . In this they failed but at the Norwegian runner-up Strømsgodset IF . In the 2013/14 championship season he was missing only two league games due to a red card , but Debrecen was able to make up for the slip of the previous year and become champions again. In the cup, however, the team failed in the semifinals due to the away goals rule at Diósgyőri VTK . In the second qualifying round for the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League they eliminated the Northern Irish champions Cliftonville FC , but then failed in the third round, like two years earlier, to BATE Baryssau. The league did not go so well in 2014/15 either, but at least fourth was the first qualifying round for the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League . In the cup, however, they failed in the round of 16 at Pécsi Mecsek FC , who later relegated from the first division due to licensing problems. Korhut was not used here.

The first qualifying round of the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League was survived against the Montenegrin runner-up FK Sutjeska Nikšić . In the second round, the Latvian runner-up Skonto Riga was eliminated, with 9-2 in the second leg, the highest victory in Debrecen's European history. In the third round both games were lost against the Norwegian runner-up Rosenborg Trondheim . In the league , the slip of the previous year could only be made up to a limited extent, because it was only possible to improve by one place and in the cup, the team failed in the semi-finals against the new champions Ferencváros Budapest .

For the 2016/17 season he moved to Hapoel Be'er Scheva . The club had just won the Israeli championship for the third time in 40 years and made it into the playoffs for the group stage in the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League , but failed there at Celtic Glasgow , as they were 2-0 after a 5-2 away defeat was one goal too low in the home game. The team then started in the UEFA Europa League 2016/17 , in which Korhut played for Hapoel for the first time internationally. The group stage came in second, with the only two wins against Inter Milan . In the sixteenth final against Beşiktaş Istanbul was then twice lost, so the team was eliminated. In the league , however, the title could be defended. In the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League the end came in the playoffs for the group stage, this time after a 2-1 home win and a 0-1 away defeat against NK Maribor due to the away goals rule . In 2017/18 the championship title could be defended again. In January 2019 he left Israel to play for Aris Saloniki in Greece . Aris qualified fifth for the second qualifying round of the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League . Here AEL Limassol was eliminated by a 1-0 away win after a goalless home game. Then came the end in the third qualifying round: After a 3-0 away defeat, it was 3-0 after 90 minutes in the home game, in stoppage time of the first half of extra time the Norwegians then scored the goal to 3-1 and progressed. Korhut was no longer on the pitch because he was substituted in the 104th minute.

National team

Korhut was first invited to an international match of the Hungarian national football team in March 2014 , but initially only sat on the bench. It wasn't until two months later that he played his first international match against Denmark on May 22nd , where he was in the starting line-up but was replaced after 62 minutes for János Szabó , who also played his first international match and for whom the game was the only international match to date stayed.

He was then used in the next two friendly games against Albania and Kazakhstan , where he played through against the Kazakhs for the first time. After two games in qualifying for the Euro 2016 , in which he only sat on the bench, he played his first competitive game against the Färoer on October 14, 2014 and was again allowed to play for over 90 minutes. After that, however, it took until March 2016, after the Hungarians had qualified for a European Championship finals for the first time since 1972 in November of the previous year, until he was invited back to the senior national team and also played.

On May 9, 2017, he was appointed to the provisional EM squad and also considered for the final squad on May 31. His only use was in the last group game in the 3: 3 against eventual European champions Portugal , when some players in the starting eleven were spared for the round of 16, in which Hungary were eliminated.

In the qualifying matches for the 2018 World Cup following the European Championship , he was used five times in the first eight games. Since the Hungarians no longer had a chance to qualify for the World Cup after these eight games, participation in the World Cup was not possible for him so far.

In the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League , he made two appearances in the 2-0 home wins against Estonia and Finland . In qualifying for the 2020 European Football Championship , he was used in five of the eight group games and scored his first international goal in a 1-0 win against Azerbaijan on October 13, 2019 . In the end, it was only enough for fourth place. But since the Finns were able to qualify directly for the European Championship, the Hungarians as second in their Nations League group still have the chance to qualify via the playoffs in March 2020.
