The Trans Regio Deutsche Regionalbahn GmbH is a railway company (EVU) with headquarters in Koblenz.

Companies

Shareholders

Trans Regio was founded in 1999 with headquarters in Trier. Initially, the Rheinbahn in Düsseldorf and the Moselbahn in Trier were equally involved. After the latter left in 2002, Rheinbahn was looking for a new partner. It found this from January 1, 2004 in the French transport company EuRailCo , which took over 75.1% of the shares. On June 30, 2011, the Rheinbahn supervisory board decided to sell its remaining shares of 24.9% to EuRailCo, which has been the sole owner of all shares in Trans Regio since 2012. EuRailCo was originally a joint venture between Transdev and RATP and has been part of Transdev Regio GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of the transport group Transdev GmbH , since January 2014 .

Managing directors

From 2004 to 2012 Christian Klein was managing director, in 2012 Henning Weize first joined the company as second managing director, who shortly thereafter took over sole management, while Christian Klein retired. Between March 2014 and February 2016, Michael Schröder was sole managing director. Henning Weize was sole managing director from March 2016 to September 2018. Ingo Pfundstein has been Managing Director of Trans Regio since October 2018.

Business premises

The existing facilities of the trans regio depot Koblenz-Mosel

With the Koblenz-Mosel depot in Koblenz-Moselweiß, trans regio owns a workshop including a depot in which Desiro ML vehicles are serviced. The control center for operations and personnel planning has also been located there since 2009 . Trans regio has leased its other workshops in Mayen and Altenglan, where the Stadler Regio-Shuttle RS1 vehicles were previously serviced, to other companies.

Trans regio operates a service center in Koblenz near the main train station. There, passengers can find out about connections and tariffs, purchase all the tickets on offer or report lost items on trans regio trains. Telephone advice is also integrated in the service center.

stretch

Current network of the TransRegio (as of December 2017)

Since December 14, 2008, trans regio has been operating passenger transport on the following routes in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia for 15 years under the brand name MittelrheinBahn registered by the Rhineland Local Transport Association :

Since the timetable change in December 2016, trains have been running on both routes as line RB 26 and no longer as MRB 26 and MRB 32, continuously from Cologne Messe / Deutz to Mainz Hbf . The 20-minute stop in Koblenz is omitted, as is the change of train number.

The trans regio has this EMUs type Siemens Desiro Main Line ( 460 series ) of Alpha Trains leased. The company offers a free audio guide for these routes on its website.

Previous routes

The trans regio operated passenger services on the following routes in Rhineland-Palatinate until December 13, 2008:

From December 14, 2008, these routes were again operated by DB Regio .

vehicles

In 2008, trans regio leased 16 electric multiple units of the Siemens Desiro ML type , with a total value of around 70 million euros, from Alpha Trains for the MittelrheinBahn. Another vehicle was delivered in January 2009 and completed further test drives, including a. as a two-parter; In the same test program, the 460 007, which was borrowed for a short time, ran with 2 intermediate cars. This means that the BR 460 can now be freely used without, with one or with two intermediate cars if required. 460 017 was handed over to trans regio in mid-June 2009 and started operating as planned on July 9th.

The trains have a capacity of 252 seats and 240 standing places and are equipped with passenger information displays and passenger counting systems in order to optimize capacity utilization more quickly and in line with requirements. There are entry aids for people with physical disabilities at the doors. There are also sufficient parking spaces for wheelchairs and twelve parking spaces for bicycles per multiple unit in the door area. The interiors are air-conditioned and soundproofed. There is also an emergency call system and a changing table in the toilets.

Another feature are tables and sockets in the first-class passenger compartments. Video surveillance in the interior and increased use of train attendants from 7 p.m. should contribute to security. The trains were built with current and future environmental standards in mind. Furthermore, due to the higher acceleration performance of the trains, stops that the former operator DB Regio had given up will be served again.

Depending on the individual requirements, the vehicles can be combined in the desired train length between 49 and 282 meters.

Diesel multiple units of the type Stadler Regio-Shuttle RS1 were used on the branch lines in Rhineland-Palatinate until December 13, 2008 .

Due to a lack of vehicles, Bombardier Talent 2 operated by National Express operated on MRB 26 in December 2015 , allowing them to gain experience to start their own operations.

It is planned to run the RB 26 in triple traction on the section from Cologne to Remagen from December 2020, which means a capacity increase of 50%.

Rates

For journeys made within associations, their tariffs and conditions of carriage apply:

Since the VRS tariff in the Ahrweiler district is recognized as a transitional tariff for the location of the Rolandseck to Brohl stations, the Schöne-Tag-Ticket NRW and Schöne Fahrt NRW offers are also valid here. The valid country tickets of the DB Regio for Rhineland-Palatinate - the Rhineland-Palatinate Ticket and the Rhineland-Palatinate Ticket + Lux are also valid on the TransRegio trains and can be purchased at the TransRegio ticket machines and in the TransRegio customer center in Koblenz .
