Monica Wüllner (born June 22, 1969 in Stuttgart ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and union official. She has been a member of the CDU federal executive committee since 2012 .

Life and work

After graduating from the Gottlieb-Daimler-Gymnasium in Bad Cannstatt and a stay abroad in England, Wüllner first briefly studied English at the University of Stuttgart and, from 1991, law at the University of Tübingen . She completed her studies in 1999 with the first state examination in law. After legal clerkship and the second state examination, she was managing director of the CDU municipal council in Stuttgart from 2001 to 2003, from 2003 to 2005 office manager for MEP Rainer Wieland in Brussels and from 2005 to 2008 in the Baden-Württemberg state administration in the culture and environment ministry. After the birth of her son and parental leave, she was head of public relations at the Christian Metal Union from 2009 to 2014 . At the end of 2014, she switched to IG Metall, where she has been working as a union secretary since 2015.

Political career

Wüllner joined the Junge Union in 1989 and the CDU in 1990, where she was elected a member of the district board of the CDU Stuttgart in 1996 and a member of the state board of the CDU Baden-Württemberg in 2001. Since 1999 she has been a member of the regional assembly of the Stuttgart Region Association as a regional councilor .

At the CDU federal party congress in December 2012, she ran for the CDU federal executive without having been nominated by her regional association as is usual. With 68.42 percent of the vote, Wüllner beat her opponent, Axel Fischer, who was supported by the regional association, and moved into the federal executive committee . She was re-elected to the federal executive committee at the party congresses in Cologne in 2014 and in Essen in 2016.

Monica Wüllner is also the district chairwoman of the CDU's social committees (CDA), deputy CDA state chairwoman and a member of the CDA federal board.

From 2004 to 2013 she was the chairwoman of the Baden-Württemberg Sports Youth (BWSJ) and a member of the Presidium of the Baden-Württemberg State Sports Association. Since 2010 she has been deputy chairwoman of the SportRegion Stuttgart.
