Mútne (until 1978 Slovak "Mutné"; Hungarian Mutne - also Muttne , Polish Mętne ) is a municipality in the northern part of Okres Námestovo in Slovakia , right on the border with Poland.
The place was mentioned for the first time in 1647. The Goral dialect is spoken in the village . Mútne is very agricultural due to its large farms. In winter, due to its altitude and remoteness, it is often difficult to reach.
Place name
The name Mútne (literally: "cloudy"), which used to be Mutné, is said to be derived from the Slovak "Smutné" ("sad"), which also seems quite logical, because the neighboring town to the west is called Oravské Veselé (literally: "that (the ) Arwa -Funny (n) "). It is more likely derived from the Mútnik stream flowing through the village .
