history

Up until the 16th century there was no permanent settlement in today's municipal area, mainly because of poorly fertile soils, a harsh climate and a comparatively higher location. Similar to many other places in the then Hungarian-Polish border area, Lomná emerged in the 16th century as a result of Wallachian colonization, and was founded according to Wallachian law . The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1600, it also belonged to the Arwaburg rulership and was under the administration of inheritors. Devastation occurred during the Kuruc Wars, but in 1715 the village again had 200 inhabitants. In the 18th century there was a brewery and a distillery in Lomná. In 1828 there were 102 houses and 665 inhabitants.

The place in Arwa County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. During the time of the first Czechoslovak Republic, the inhabitants were sheep and cattle farmers, shindlers, house craftsmen and forest workers all over the country.

population

According to the 2011 census, Lomná had 862 residents, 835 of whom were Slovaks , six Czechs , five Poles and one Ukrainian . One resident indicated a different ethnic group and 14 residents gave no information in this regard.
