NGC 1564 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 407 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter. In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1561 , NGC 1563 , NGC 1565 , IC 2064 .
The object was discovered by Francis Leavenworth on November 12, 1885 .
