NGC 1565 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Eridanus at the southern sky . It is an estimated 406 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1561 , NGC 1563 , NGC 1564 , IC 2064 .
The object was discovered by Francis Leavenworth on November 12, 1885 .
