NGC 1574 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Netz on the border with the constellation Dorado in the southern sky . It is an estimated 39 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years across . Together with four other galaxies, it forms the NGC 1553 group ( LGG 112 ).
The object was by astronomer John Herschel on December 4, 1834 using a 18.7-inch - telescope discovered.
