NGC 7216 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Indians in the southern sky . It is an estimated 153 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light-years across.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 5173 .
The object was discovered on June 29, 1835 by the astronomer John Herschel .
