NGC 7212 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Pegasus in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 365 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 130,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 5161 .
The object was discovered on October 2, 1886 by the astronomer Lewis A. Swift with his 16-inch telescope and was later added to his New General Catalog by Johan Dreyer .
