NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III was a WWE NXT wrestling event that aired on the WWE Network . It took place on August 19, 2017 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn , a borough of New York City , New York , United States . It was the 17th major NXT event under the name NXT TakeOver since February 2014 and the fourth in 2017. For the third year in a row, the event took place in Brooklyn in August on the evening before the pay-per-view SummerSlam .

In the run-up to the event, five matches were scheduled. This resulted from the storylines that in the weeks before NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III at NXT , the weekly WWE Network broadcast developmental league of the WWE , were shown.
The main fight of the event was a singles match for the NXT Championship between title holder Bobby Roode and his challenger Drew McIntyre .

Matches
In the first match met Andrade Almas on Johnny Gargano . In the end, Almas' ring companion Zelina pelted Vega Gargano with a DIY shirt, which allowed Almas to bring the Hammerlock DDT , his finishing move , to the finish and win the match.
The Authors of Pain ( Akam and Rezar ) then defended their NXT Tag Team Championship against SAnitY ( Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain ). During the match, Dain was replaced by SAnitY's third male member, Eric Young . The team was also accompanied by Nikki Cross , as was The Authors of Pain by Paul Ellering . At the climax, Dain, who was actually no longer participating in the match, showed a running crossbody against Akam through a table, who at the time was carrying the also intervening Nikki Cross on his hands. In the ring, Wolfe and Young showed a combination of Belly to Back Suplex and Diving Neckbreaker against Rezar, whereupon Wolfe pinned Rezar . Thus, Wolfe and Young won the titles and ended Akam and Rezar's winning streak since their debut. After the match, both teams were attacked by reDRagon ( Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly ) who chasing the Dragon against Young.
Then Aleister Black faced Hideo Itami . Black won the match after a Black Mass .
Asuka then defended her NXT Women's Championship against Ember Moon . Moon showed her finishing move Eclipse , but couldn't win the match. Later, Asuka Moon forced the Asuka Lock the task , thus defending the title.
Main Event
In the main fight of the evening, Bobby Roode defended his NXT Championship against Drew McIntyre . After both had shown their finishing moves Glourious DDT (Roode) and Claymore (McIntyre) several times during the match , McIntyre won and inflicted his first WWE-TV defeat on Roode.
After the match, McIntyre was attacked by reDRagon and debuting Adam Cole . Cole then indicated that he wanted to win the NXT Championship .
After the event
In the August 22nd, 2017 edition of SmackDown Live , Bobby Roode made his debut in the main roaster, defeating Aiden English .
On August 24, 2017, Asuka resigned the NXT Women's Championship due to an injury she sustained in the match against Ember Moon , ending her 510-day record title reign. The WWE specifies the duration of the reign as 523 days, since the program was broadcast on September 6, 2017. On September 11, 2017, Raw announced Asuka's debut in the main roaster for the following weeks.
