Nature reserve Das Alte Moor near Drispeth

The nature reserve The old moor near Drispeth is a 13 hectare nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania three kilometers west of Zickhusen . The eponymous place Drispeth is located one kilometer northeast. It was placed under protection on March 22, 1982 with the aim of protecting and developing a rain bog with open water areas, silting areas and scrub forests.

The current state of the area is assessed as good due to its remote location. Neighboring grassland areas are mowed regularly so that nutrient inputs into the bog are restricted. The nature reserve is home to species Greylag Goose , Red-necked Grebe , Little Grebe , Common Snipe , teal , goldeneye , Tüpfelralle and Beutelmeise a rich breeding bird fauna. The nature reserve is part of the FFH area of forest and small water bodies of Dambecker Lakes and Buchholz .

The route from Dambeck to Alt Meteln provides very good insights into the areas. Not far to the east is the Dambecker Lakes nature reserve .
