The nature reserve Lankower See comprises the southern part of Lankower See with adjacent lowland and forest areas. The 130 hectare large nature reserve is located in the communities Dechow and Schlagsdorf in nordwestmecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern .
A thick belt of reeds surrounds the lake. The lowlands are planted with black alder, birch and gray willow. Lankower See is rich in species - 44 species have been identified as macrozoobenthos in the lake, including eel , pike , tench , roach , rudd , wolffish , burbot , perch , crayfish and barnacle . Furthermore, the Lankower lake is an important resting waters for Gray Goose , Tufted Duck , Common Merganser , cormorants and herons . Breeding birds in the area are the bittern , water rail , kingfisher , great crested grebe and reed warbler . The state of the area is rated as satisfactory. Nutrients and pesticides are brought in from adjacent agricultural areas. There are no public roads in the area. In the south, the nature reserve Lankower Seeufer, Grammsee and the surrounding area joins in Schleswig-Holstein , in the east the nature reserve Der Ewige Teich .
The nature reserve is part of the FFH area Goldensee, Mechower, Lankower and Culpiner See (MV) .
