Neuendorfer Moor nature reserve

The Neuendorfer Moor nature reserve is a nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It is located not far north of Neuendorf in the Schaalsee biosphere reserve . The designation took place on March 20, 2004. The Protected Area Ordinance was issued on April 16, 2007. After five years, a renaturation project in the Neuendorfer Moor was completed in 2008. The course of the river Schilde begins in the Neuendorfer Moor .
Flora and fauna
Typical plants in the area are peat moss , pipe grass , birch , blueberry and reed, as well as a spruce population on drier locations. In addition to 127 moss and 140 mushroom species, 26 dragonfly, 152 beetle and 300 butterfly species were identified in the area. The Neuendorfer Moor is an important breeding ground for the crane .
