Mykola Skrypnyk Oleksijowytsch (born January 13, jul. / 25. January 1872 greg. In Yasynuvata , yekaterinoslav governorate , Russian Empire ; † 7. July 1933 in Kharkiv , Ukrainian SSR ) was a Ukrainian - Soviet politician and 1918 Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Provisional Workers 'and Peasants' Government of Ukraine.

Skrypnyk was born in Jassynuwata in what is now the Donetsk Oblast in Ukraine, the son of a railroad worker. He was a member of the RSDLP from 1898 and of the Bolsheviks from May 1917 . On March 4, 1918, he became Foreign Minister of the Soviet Government of Ukraine and Head of Government. He held these offices until November 17, 1918. From the 1920s to 1933 he was People's Commissar in various fields in the USSR and from February 23, 1933 until his death he was Deputy Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR and Chairman of the Gosplan .
From 1928 he was a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Belarusian SSR and from June 29, 1929 member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences .
Shortly before his death, he was confronted with allegations such as "he distorted Leninism". When he was supposed to answer questions about the allegations again on July 7, 1933 at a meeting of the Politburo in Kharkiv, he left the room and shot himself in his own office. He was buried in Kharkiv.

Skrypnyk was winner of Rotbannerordens and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor .
