Church in Niederkrüchten

The municipality of Niederkrüchten is located on the left Lower Rhine in the west of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is a municipality in the district of Viersen in the administrative district of Düsseldorf .

history

From September 1944 the civilian population was forced to leave Elmpt. Many Niederkrüchten residents were evacuated to Borghorst (Münsterland), Lindhorst , Steinhude , Amt Rahden or Authausen (in Saxony). At the end of February 1945, a few days after the start of Operation Grenade , German troops evacuated the Maas-Rur position ; On March 1, US soldiers advanced to Venlo via Niederkrüchten, Brüggen, Bracht and Kaldenkirchen .

Since January 1, 1972, the formerly independent communities of Niederkrüchten and Elmpt have been amalgamated by a law on the reorganization of the communities and districts of the Aachen reorganization area (dated December 14, 1971). Both municipalities originally belonged to the former district of Erkelenz and, after the local reorganization, to the district of Heinsberg , they were assigned to the district of Viersen in 1975, but the places Merbeck , Schwaam , Tetelrath , Venn and Venheyde were assigned to the town of Wegberg and thus continue to belong to the district of Heinsberg .

The baroque image of grace "Maria Schutz zu Pfeddersheim" comes from the Elmpt district , in the Catholic parish church of the Assumption of Mary , Worms-Pfeddersheim , Rhineland-Palatinate . It survived a fire in Elmpt in 1869 unscathed and came as a gift to its current location, where it has been venerated since 1927.

The qualified social worker Karl-Heinz "Kalle" Wassong (independent) was elected as the new mayor in September 2015. He prevailed in the runoff election with 67.34 percent of the vote against competitor Bennet Gielen (CDU). Previously, Herbert Winzen (also independent) held the office for 11 years.

The three blue bars on a silver background indicate the emblem of the noble lords of Brempt, who exercised landlord rights in Niederkrüchten in the 13th century.

sport and freetime

The sports of soccer , horse riding, swimming , rehab , tennis , karate , judo , paddling , sailing and fishing are operated by various clubs in the community.

The largest sports facilities in the community include the Elmpt community center ( multi-purpose hall ), the Niederkrüchten double gym, the riding facilities in the districts of Gützenrath, Overhetfeld and Venekoten, and the sports fields in Niederkrüchten, Elmpt and Oberkrüchten. They are used by the two largest clubs, SC Niederkrüchten and Schwarz-Weiß 1926 Elmpt, and also by smaller clubs.

The DLRG Niederkrüchten is the largest swimming club in the community. The indoor pool in the Elmpt district is mainly used for school and club sports, the Niederkrüchten outdoor pool has not been open since 2018 due to the acute need for renovation.

Varia

Niederkrüchten was sporadically part of a motorcycle race track that connected the towns of Waldniel, Niederkrüchten, Brüggen, Bracht, Kaldenkirchen, Breyell, Boisheim and Dülken over a length of 48.5 km from 1922 to 1925. Located on the outskirts Niederkrüchtens karting -distance "Kuka-kart track" on Raderberg, however, is but nowadays extended no more important races and for many years still in operation, will be there.
