Holy Family Church in Andritz

The Church of the Holy Family , also parish Andritz , is a Roman Catholic parish church in the twelfth Grazer district Andritz . It is the parish church of the parish Graz-Andritz in the dean's office Graz-North of the town church Graz .

history

Due to the establishment of an iron foundry and machine factory by the industrialist Josef Körösi in the middle of the 19th century, there was an increase in population in the Andritz village. The pastoral care of the parish was carried out by the Graz- St. Veit parish . Therefore, it was decided to build a chapel to relieve the St. Veit parish. However, the outbreak of World War II prevented this project. Since the funds for a church building were lacking, the premises of the state shooting range were rented for holding church services. After the shooting club was founded in 1958, the services had to be postponed. As a result, today's church building was built according to the plans of the architect Raimund Lorenz and completed in 1960. The new parish church is consecrated to the Holy Family and was expanded in 1980 with the construction of a pastoral care and meeting center. After the severe flooding in 2005, the sacred building, which was badly damaged, had to be renovated for a year.
