Prize of the Leipzig Book Fair / Fiction
Winner and nominated authors for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in the fiction category . The award has been presented at the Leipzig Book Fair since 2005 . The award is endowed with 15,000 euros for the award-winning author, with an additional 1,000 euros for each nominee (status: 2019).
Award winners
The most popular awards were novels by authors with German nationality (13 victories, including writers with dual nationality such as Terézia Mora , Saša Stanišić or Natascha Wodin ), followed by Austria (one victory for Clemens J. Setz ). So far, no writer has won the award more than once. On two nominations come Sherko Fatah (2008 and 2012), Wilhelm Genazino (2007 and 2009), Wolfgang Herrendorf (2011 and 2012), Georg Klein (2010 and 2018), Clemens Meyer (2006 and 2008) and Anne Weber (2010, 2017), but only Herrndorf, Klein and Meyer could win the award once.
In 2015 a volume of poetry was awarded for the first time with Jan Wagner's rain barrel variations , while Werner Bräunig was posthumously nominated for fairground in 2007.
The publishers with the most award winners are Rowohlt and Suhrkamp (four wins each), followed by Hanser and Luchterhand (two successes each).
