Rémy , also Rémi , is a French male given name and a family name . In the Anglo-Saxon region, the first name without accent aigu Remi or Remy is mostly used in the male form, but sometimes also mistakenly as a female first name.
Origin and meaning
Etymologically there are two different interpretations: On the one hand, the name comes from the Celtic inhabitants of the region around today's city of Reims , the Remern (Latin: Remi ).
On the other hand, the name originated as a variant of Remigius , from the Latin remigis , "the rower".
