course

The Allgäu cycle tour leads through six districts in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Tyrol. It is a round tour in which no direction of travel is specified and entry is possible at any time. The cycle route is crossed by the Iller cycle path , which forms the north-south axis of the cycle path , and the Allgäu cycle path as an east-west axis. There are 50 train stations along the cycle route. The Allgäu cycle tour overcomes almost 2,200 meters in altitude. In the north of the cycle route are places such as Markt Rettenbach, Ottobeuren, Bad Grönenbach, Leutkirch and Bad Wurzach. To the west, the Allgäu cycle route borders on Baden-Württemberg and leads along places such as Wolfegg, Waldburg, Wangen im Allgäu and Isny to Lindenberg. In the south, the round tour leads along the edge of the Alps past the Alpsee, from Immenstadt along the Iller to Sonthofen, crosses the border to Austria to the Tannheimer Tal and finally reaches the royal castles in Füssen. To the east it leads from the Forggensee through river landscapes from Marktoberdorf via Kaufbeuren to Bad Wörishofen. The recommended cycling season runs from May to mid-October.

The cycle route is mostly paved and leads over low-traffic routes.

In addition to the complete round tour, there are eight other variants for driving the Allgäu cycle tour, each with a different height profile so that it can also be divided into individual stages. There are four ways of halving the round tour: The Iller cycle path is used as an axis, from there the cycle tour can either go counter-clockwise via Leutkirch, Bad Wurzach, Wolfegg, Wangen, Isny, Weiler, Immenstadt and Fischen or clockwise via Bad Grönenbach, Ottobeuren, Bad Wörishofen, Kaufbeuren, Marktoberdorf, Füssen, Pfronten, Tannheimer Tal, Sonthofen and Fischen can be used. Furthermore, you can use the Allgäu cycle path as an axis and from there drive the northern or southern half of the cycle route.

There are also four options for quartering the cycle lap:

  • Kempten-Illerbeuren-Leutkirch-Bad Wurzach-Kißlegg-Wolfegg-Wangen-Isny-Kempten
  • Kempten-Illerbeuren-Bad Görenbach-Ottobeuren-Bad Wörishofen-Kaufbeuren-Marktoberdorf-Kempten
  • Kempten-Isny-Lindenberg-Weiler-Immenstadt-Ofterschwang-Obermaiselstein-Fischen-Kempten
