Right Now ( English for "At this moment") a song by the American pop , singer Nick Jonas , in cooperation with the German DJ Robin Schulz .
Creation and artwork
Right Now was written jointly by twelve authors, including: Taylor Bird, Skylar Gray , Peter Hanna, Nick Jonas, the German producer trio Junkx (consisting of: Dennis Bierbrodt, Stefan Dabruck , Jürgen Dohr and Guido Kramer), Steve Mac , Andrew McMahon , Robin Schulz and Lindsey Stirling . Production was done by Junkx, Steve Mac and Robin Schulz. The piece was mixed under the direction of the American producer Erik Madrid and his assistant from Los Angeles , William Binderup. The programming of Right Now took place under the main responsibility of Junkx member Kramer, the programming of the drums was done independently by the British Chris Laws. Junkx, Laws and the British singer-songwriter Dann Pursey were responsible for the engineering .
On the reddish cover of the single, only the artist names and the song title can be seen against the backdrop of a hilly coastal landscape . The song title is shown as a red shining street sign in the middle of the cover image, above that are the names of the two performers in orange.
Publication and promotion
The first publication of Right Now carried out as a single download on August 24, 2018. The single was among the music labels Iceland Records released and Safe House and by Universal Music Publishing sold. To promote the piece, Nick Jonas uploaded a video on his YouTube profile the day before the single was released , in which only the cover of the single can be seen while the song can be heard. Among other things, the single release was advertised with a large advertising campaign in Times Square in New York City . On September 7, 2018, Jonas and Schulz appeared together on the American late-night show The Tonight Show . On October 26, 2018, Right Now (Robin Schulz VIP Remix), a remix version made by Schulz himself, was released as a single download.

During an interview with Teen Vogue on August 9, 2018, Nick Jonas first announced that he had worked with Robin Schulz and that a new single called Right Now would be out in two weeks. It is a song that Jonas worked on for a while and that was initially only created with the help of Skylar Gray. He had been waiting for the right time and the right collaboration partner to publish the piece.
After the song was released, rumors circulated that the song was about Jonas himself and his fiancée Priyanka Chopra . Shortly thereafter, co-author Gray spoke up on Instagram Stories and stated that the song was about her partner Elliot.

In terms of content, Right Now describes a love story . It's about two lovers who want to be or come together. Both are afraid of being bonded because they don't know the other's intentions. In order to get together, they want to prove their good intentions to each other and thus gain the trust of the other. The basis for the piece was the relationship between Gray and her partner Elliot. Gray is constantly traveling due to work. On a trip to London - to work with Jonas on the song - Elliot often said to her: "I swear, the next time I have you in my arms, I'm never letting you go" ( English for "I swear that next time I hold you in my arms I won't let you go ”). This sentence was the inspiration for the song. This can be found in a slightly modified form in the chorus of the piece.
The song is based on two stanzas and a chorus. It starts with the first verse, followed by a pre-chorus and finally the actual chorus. The same process is repeated with the second stanza. After the second chorus there is a short post-chorus before the song ends with a final third chorus. The main vocals of the song come from Jonas, in the background the voice of Gray can be heard. Schulz only works as a DJ on the piece. The instrumentation was done by Zane Carney, John Paricelli and Dann Pursey on guitar, Junkx and Steve Mac on keyboards and Chris Laws on drums.

Music video
The official music video for Right Now premiered on YouTube on September 27, 2018 . During the video, Nick Jonas can be seen singing the song against a black background. Only his upper body can be seen. Jonas is accompanied by a light show that puts him in the limelight. Schulz himself does not appear in the video, at the end only a portrait of him is shown. The total length of the video is 3:29 minutes. To date, the music video has over 73.2 million views on YouTube (as of March 2020).

Kat Bein of Billboard Magazine says Right Now is meant for "fame." The song has a “flirtatious dance-pop melody” and hides a kind of “hidden excitement” that is perfect for summer nights.
Katrina Rees of celebmix.com described Right Now as definitely the perfect song to end the summer months on a high.

Right Now reached position 78 in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the top 100 for a week. In the midweek charts , the single initially made it to position 64.
