- July 5 : With leaders command is Reichsleiter Rosenberg Taskforce established a predatory organization of the NSDAP for cultural goods from the occupied countries during the Second World War , under the leadership of the Nazi party ideologue Alfred Rosenberg and he led the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the NSDAP (APA) stands. In Paris, the West Department is set up under Kurt von Behr . On September 17, General Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel authorized the ERR on behalf of Hitler to “secure all abandoned cultural property” .

- The Nibelungen Bridge in Linz, planned by engineer Karl Schaechterle and architect Friedrich Tamms, for the National Socialist “ Führer City Linz ” is completed. Simultaneously with the construction of the Nibelungen Bridge, some buildings on both banks of the Danube were demolished to make room for the wider and higher bridge. At the main square in Linz, which is directly adjacent to the Nibelungen Bridge , several historicist buildings were demolished in order to be replaced by the so-called "bridgehead buildings" .
