geography

The village is located in Rangau between the cities of Fürth , Herzogenaurach and Erlangen , about two kilometers southeast of Obermichelbach and northwest of Atzenhof , a district of Fürth. It is largely surrounded by arable land and grassland with a few trees. In the north the field is called Weiherfeld, in the northeast Steinbitze. In the south the area slopes down into the Zenntal .

A community road leads to Ritzmannshof (1 km southeast) or to Obermichelbach to the district road FÜ 17 (1.6 km northwest).

history

In 1337, the parish of Herzogenaurach transferred 22 places to the Heilig-Geist-Spital Nuremberg , including Obermichelbach, Untermichelbach and Rothenberg.

In 1348 the place was first mentioned in the land register of the Bamberg monastery as "Rotenberch". The place name is derived from an identical field name. In 1396 the place appears in Berg's Reichslehenbuch. In the Salbuch of the Cadolzburg office in 1464 "Obermichelbach", "Nydernmichelbach" and "Rotperg" were named. In 1634 Obermichelbach and Rothenberg burned down during the Thirty Years' War .

At the end of the 18th century there were 7 properties in Rothenberg. The high court and the village and community rulership was exercised by the Brandenburg-Ansbach municipal bailiff's office in Langenzenn . The landlords were the Cadolzburg caste office in Brandenburg-Ansbach (1 courtyard, 2 estates, 1 shepherd's house), the citizen Dr. Linck (1 half yard), the war council Keerl (1 half yard) and the Nuremberg owner von Imhoff (1 estate). In 1801 there were 6 properties in the village, 2 of which were subordinate to Ansbach and 4 to foreign masters.

In 1792, the town and the Principality of Ansbach became part of Prussia and in 1806 it was incorporated into the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the community edict, Rothenberg was assigned to the Obermichelbach tax district formed in 1808 . It belonged to the rural community of Obermichelbach formed in the same year .

On April 17, 1945, the Second World War ends with the occupation by the troops of the United States Army .
