Rudno (1927-1946 Slovak "Rúdno"; German Rauden , Hungarian Turócrudnó - until 1907 Rudnó ) is a municipality in the north-center of Slovakia with 193 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located in the Okres Turčianske Teplice , part of the Žilinský kraj .
geography
The village is located at the transition from the southwest part of the torrent basin to the Žiar Mountains by the Podskalie brook . The center of the village is at an altitude of 510 m nm and is 14 kilometers from Turčianske Teplice and 26 kilometers from Martin .
The municipality of Rudno borders on Slovenské Pravno in the north, Liešno in the east, Budiš in the south, Jasenovo in the south-west, Nitrianske Pravno in the west and Brieštie in the north-west.
history
Rudno was first mentioned in writing in 1343 as Rudna and at that time belonged to the rulers of Slovenské Pravno. In 1553 a mining settlement was established here with an emperor. In 1715 there were 13 households in the village, in 1787 the village had 33 houses and 251 inhabitants. In 1828 there were 41 houses and 250 inhabitants who were employed as craftsmen and farmers.
The place in Turz County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In the first Czechoslovak Republic, the inhabitants worked in the woods and in the local saw, there was also a brick factory and a tradition of weaving.

According to the 2011 census, 225 people lived in Rudno, 223 of whom were Slovaks and one Bulgarian and one Czech .
118 residents committed to the Evangelical Church AB, 62 residents to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident to the Orthodox Church. 40 residents had no denomination and the denomination of four residents was not determined.
Buildings
- Roman Catholic wooden church of St. Stephan from 1790–1792, which replaced an older church from 1422. Today this church can be visited in the Museum of the Slovak Village ( Múzeum slovenskej dediny ) in Martin.
