The Sachaca district is located in the Arequipa Province of Arequipa region in southwestern Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. The district has an area of about 14.5 km². At the 2017 census, there were 24,225 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 13,261, in 2007 17,537. The district administration is located in the city of Sachaca . This is part of the metropolitan area of the provincial and regional capital Arequipa and is located southwest of the city center.
Geographical location
The Sachaca District is located in the southwestern center of the Arequipa Province at an altitude of 2240 m . The district has an approximately square shape with a side length of about 4 km. The Río Chili flows along the southeastern border of the district. In addition to several distributed settlement areas, there are also larger areas with irrigated agriculture in the district.
The Sachaca district is bordered to the west by the district Tiabaya , on the north by the district Cerro Colorado , in the northeast on the district Yanahuara and to the city district of Arequipa . In the southeast is the Jacobo Hunter district .
