Schadewitz , Škódow in Lower Sorbian , is an inhabited part of the municipality in Kemmen , a district of the city of Calau in the northern part of the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in southern Brandenburg .

Schadewitz is located in Niederlausitz in the Niederlausitzer Landücken nature park on the Kleptna . Kemmen is one kilometer southeast of Schadewitz. The Gollmitz district of Calau is located south to south-west . From the southwest to northwest follow Craupe , Groß Mehßow with Klein Mehßow and Mallenchen . In the north, Schadewitz borders Buckow . To the northeast are the Säritz district and the town of Calau.
history
Local history
Schadewitz was first mentioned in 1434. The name can be traced back to the Lower Sorbian personal name Škoda . In German, this name Schkode could also correspond to damage . In the 15th century the place was called Schadewitz , the Sorbian name variant Schkodow in 1761.
As a result of the Congress of Vienna , Schadwitz came to the Kingdom of Prussia and belonged to the district of Calau . On January 1, 1926, Schadewitz was incorporated into Kemmen. After the Second World War, Kemmen and Schadewitz belonged to the Calau district, which was newly founded in 1952 . The place belongs to the church district Niederlausitz . On October 26, 2003, Kemmen was incorporated into the town of Calau with Schadewitz and the towns of Mlode , Groß Mehßow , Saßleben , Bolschwitz and Werchow .

To the west of the village there are two boulders in the forest , the devil's stones .
Economy and Infrastructure
Federal motorway 13 runs west of the village and federal motorway 15 runs north . Not far from Schadewitz are four wind turbines , which are to be expanded by 12 to 16 more. The wind farm would have a size of over 316 hectares.
