Schmölz is part of the municipality of the Küps market in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria .

Schmölz lies on the edge of the Franconian Forest Nature Park , approx. 2.5 km north of the Küps market . The parish village has 982 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2007) and is at an altitude of 446 m above sea level. NN .

The place Schmölz was mentioned for the first time in 1194 and, like Schmölz Castle, remained in the possession of the Lords of Redwitz until 1861 .
Evangelical Lutheran Parish Church of St. Laurentius
A church in Schmölz is first recorded for 1302. Around 1500 the patronage of Laurentius of Rome was mentioned in a document and in 1500 the parish of Graitz was detached . In 1545 Christoph von Redwitz introduced the Reformation . The current shape of the church as a sandstone block construction with a single-nave hall and a three-sided end as well as a four-storey tower with a pointed helmet and watch tower dates back to 1690. It is 22 meters long and 9 meters wide. The church tower is 45 meters high. In autumn 2003 the exterior facade at the main entrance was renovated.
The villages of Beikheim , Trainau , Mannsgereuth , Schneckenlohe and Theisenort belong to the parish of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Schmölz . 1 November 2003 under the decision of church administration places nail and were in Munich Tüschnitz in the parish Kups incorporated.
