The Bamberg telecommunications tower (internally: radio transmission center Buttenheim 1 ) is a transmission system operated by Deutsche Telekom AG on the Wachknock north of Kälberberg , a district of Buttenheim in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg ( Bavaria ).

VHF signals, digital television , cellular radio and radio link are broadcast .

Transmitter

The antenna carrier of the transmission system consists of a 127.4 m high telecommunications tower of the type  FMT2 built in 1973, made of reinforced concrete , which stands on the top of the Wachknock (approx. 558  m above sea  level ) and is not open to the public.

The analog television program ZDF on channel 24 (50 kW) and Bavarian television on channel 56 (90 kW) were switched off on November 25, 2008 in favor of DVB-T broadcasting.

The radio programs of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra are from 1km north on the Geisberg located transmitter Bamberg broadcast.

Digital television (DVB-T2)

The DVB-T2 HD -Ausstrahlungen from the transmitter Bamberg (Kälberberg) have been running since 26 September 2018 and are simulcast (Single Frequency Network) with other transmitter sites.

Digital television ( DVB-T )

The DVB-T broadcasts were running since 25 November 2008 and stayed in the single-frequency operation (Single Frequency Network) with other transmitter sites. They were discontinued with the switch to DVB-T2 on September 26, 2018.
