The Magdeburg (city) transmitter is a transmission tower built directly in the city of Magdeburg on the Langen Lake for the purpose of broadcasting DVB-T . At 160 meters high, the transmitter mast is Magdeburg's tallest structure. The transmission tower supplies the entire Magdeburg city area and the surrounding area with digital terrestrial television. The pilot broadcast of DVB-T2 HD programs began on May 31, 2016 .
On March 29, 2017, the broadcasting of DVB-T programs ended and regular operation of DVB-T2 HD began. Since then, the programs of the ARD ( MDR -Mux), the ZDF and the commercial offer of freenet TV ( encoded in Irdeto ) have been broadcasting in the DVB-T2 standard using the HEVC video coding process and in Full HD resolution.

Digital television (DVB-T)
The DVB-T broadcasts from Magdeburg (city) running since 9 October 2007 and were in the single-frequency operation (Single Frequency Network) with other transmitter sites. They were discontinued on March 29, 2017.
