Sidsel Ben Semmane (* 1989 ) is a Danish singer . She represented Denmark on May 20, 2006 at the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens .

life and career

Sidsel Ben Semmane comes from the village of Adslev , Hørning Kommune , south of Aarhus . She was already on stage at the age of eight, back then as a member of a choir that also made guest appearances abroad, for example in South Africa . She performed solo for the first time at the age of eleven . In the summer of 2005 she sang in a competition at the Aarhus music schools and played in the musical Democrats .

On February 11, 2006, the Danish audience at the Melodi Grand Prix in Aalborg had the opportunity to choose the national representative for the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens from ten titles. The 17-year-old debutante won surprisingly with the song Twist of love composed by Niels Drevsholt . At the Eurovision Song Contest itself, Ben Semmane reached 18th place with this title. She was the youngest participant in the competition. Her first solo album, Where Are My Shoes? Was released on May 29, 2006 . .
