Gustav Frands Wilzeck Winckler (born October 13, 1925 in Copenhagen , † January 20, 1979 in Viborg ) was a Danish jazz and pop singer . In Germany recordings were also published under the artist name Gunnar Winckler .

At a young age Winckler was active in a children's choir and later in a youth choir. He left school at the age of 13 and worked as a craftsman and gardener. His singing career began in the late 1940s. He performed in a restaurant and was later discovered for the radio. After a title was selected for him and the singer Birthe Wilke at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix , they were the first Danes to represent their country at the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson in 1957 . The duo Skibet Skal sejle i nat ( German The ship sets sail tonight ) ended the two singers with a long kiss, which caused indignation at the time. Eventually they reached third place.

He tried six more times in the Danish preliminary round without winning. At the same time he had numerous publications and toured at home and abroad.

Gustav Winckler died in a car accident at the age of 53 . He was buried in Greve Landsby's cemetery in Greve Municipality , Sjælland region .
