Sieglitz is one of four districts of the village of Edlau in the town of Könnern in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Sieglitz lies between Halle (Saale) and Bernburg (Saale) . The village is located in the Fuhn lowlands . Highway 14 runs west of the small community .

history

Sieglitz ("Sieglietz") is a Slavic foundation from the 7th / 8th. Century. The place was the largest, but also the poorest of the four settlements in Edlau.

The villages were first mentioned in a document in 1108 when they were given to the "Grafschaft Alsleben ", which was immediately part of the empire . At that time they were ecclesiastically subordinate to the pastors of Könnern. After the death of the last Count of Alsleben in 1128, the places of the County of Alsleben came to the ore monastery of Magdeburg . When the Archbishopric of Magdeburg fell to Brandenburg-Prussia in 1680, the Electors of Brandenburg (from 1701 kings in / of Prussia) became the new sovereigns of the area now known as the “ Duchy of Magdeburg ”. The four places on the border with the principalities of Anhalt belonged to the Saalkreis . The jurisdiction over Kirchedlau lay with the Rothenburg office , that over Mitteledlau and Hohenedlau with the St. Nicolai monastery in Magdeburg and that over Sieglitz with the noble gentlemen from the corner of Wettin .

With the Peace of Tilsit in 1807, the four places in the valley of the Plötze were incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. Kirchedlau and Mitteledlau belonged to the canton of Cönnern , Hohenedlau and Sieglitz to the canton of Löbejün . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the Saalkreis in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the four places were attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and assigned to the Saalkreis.

On April 1, 1938 Sieglitz was incorporated into Hohenedlau and Mitteledlau into Kirchedlau. With the first district reform in the GDR on July 1, 1950, Hohenedlau and Kirchedlau merged to form the municipality of Edlau, at the same time they were incorporated into the district of Bernburg . As a result of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Edlau became part of the Bernburg district in the Halle district , which became the Bernburg district in 1990 and was added to the Salzland district in 2007.

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent municipality of Edlau was incorporated into the town of Könnern together with the municipalities of Cörmigk , Gerlebogk and Wiendorf .
