The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) is a technical university in Sydney , New South Wales , Australia . The university is currently headed by Chancellor Catherine Livingstone (elected term from 2016 to November 2020) and her deputy Attila Brungs.

In the QS World University Rankings 2015–2016, UTS was ranked 12th among Australian universities and 218th worldwide. In addition, she was awarded five "stars" by QS for excellence in higher education. The Times Higher Education Ranking from 2015 lists the UTS in the world's top 250.

In 2014 the university was expanded to include a new building designed by the American architect Frank Gehry as part of the UTS City Campus master plan .
